More 'present tense' than a memoir, and certainly not an autobiography, the book gives a real insight into White's travels and experiences of touring the world over the last eight years.Says White; "You won't find out about my family, growing up, or why Johnny Depp once bought me a beer - but there are flashes from hotel rooms, departure lounges, and backstage bars. The interesting stuff, where the 'on the road' real-life glamour reveals itself - driving through boarded-up streets into Liverpool city centre as the sun is going down, negotiating a Tokyo set list with a Japanese shirt committee." As well as compelling story-telling, there are lists, poems and advice on topics such as how to check-in luggage on budget airlines without paying excess fees, and how to employ the correct hand signals when driving in Italy - to let the guy in the Audi cutting you up in the fast lane know exactly what you think of him. If you like Andy's work, you'll love this book.'21st Century Troubadour' is only available in Ireland, but it's easy to order it directly from us. Every time I've been there it's all been about rain and poetry, so when Another Lost Shark Press asked me for a slim volume's worth of poems, I had my theme ready-made. I looked through my notes and little back books and took out all the poems I'd written either in Brisbane, or just after I'd left that magical poetic city. You're thinking I should be talking about London or Paris. Yes, but spare a thought for San Francisco and Belfast, cities off some kind of cultural beaten track but where great writing thrives. Have a look at an interview I did with Graham from Another Lost Shark, which explains this more fully.'Stolen Moments' is only available in Australia, but it's easy to order it directly from us. Just email Rose who will get in touch as soon as we have copies (publication date is August 26, 2011). The Music of What Happens Andy wrote his first poem aged nine and ever since has scribbled poems and songs and pieces of writing on anything he could lay his hands on. These pieces of paper, books, tickets and old tablecloths went into an old suitcase in the attic. A few years ago two novelist friends of Andy's persuaded him to empty the suitcase and sort out the writing. This is the result - his first collection of verse. As well as poetry, included in the book are the complete song lyrics from all of Andy's seven solo albums (up to and including 'Compilation' and a selection of his drawings. |
