get back home is the first single release
from andy white's new album teenage.
in the two and a half years since andy's last solo release andy relocated
to dublin, got married, and released an album with liam o maonlai and
tim finn under the collective name of alt. the threesome spent 1995
touring and are now engaged in their own individual projects.
the video that accompanies the single was directed in belfast by novelist
robert mcliam wilson. in the style of a grainy black and white childhood
photo, it stars andy's three year old son sebastian. a friend had filmed
andy's wedding on super 8 and this also pops up. have a look here.
get back home was produced by the legendary
american with an irish grandmother, kim fowley. he has produced everyone
from the byrds and the beach boys to kiss. his is the voice who introduces
the plastic ono band on 'live peace in toronto', and his biog is longer
than the bible. kim recently phoned andy from a swamp in louisiana,
delighted with the fact that the romanian women's gymnastic team won
a bronze medal at the olympics performing to one of his songs (the infamous
'nutrocker').
musicians on the single include rod mcvey, andy's long time collaborator,
and thomas walsh, whom kim discovered hiding in a back issue of hot
press. the cd single also includes some of the things
I can bring, an instrumental version of 'all of the things I
can bring' from the new album, and cinnamon sofa.
both of these songs are unavailable elsewhere.
the three songs were mixed by ingmar kiang and pat donne along with
andy in sun studios, temple bar, dublin.
