andy white's spiritual supermarket
andy and his band andy white's spiritual supermarket started touring teenage october 1996 in dublin. the spiritual supermarket is a smorgasbord of talent, with a liquid line-up featuring andy, his sister cathy, davy crichton from scotland on violin, rad lorkovic from new york city on accordion, keith farrell on bass and john boyle on drums. davy played with 'the silencers' and john with dublin band 'the picture house'. rad has his own solo albums out in america

the band followed up uk and european album release in 1997 with a european tour starting on st patrick's day at the mean fiddler in london, then heading off for italy, switzerland, austria and scandinavia.

andy and davy then played a series of concerts in the u.k. april 16-23 and in london on may 13
andy followed this by flying to australia to play four concerts. two in melbourne with a southern hemisphere spiritual supermarket, one in sydney with tim finn and one in brisbane with david bridie

andy, rad, john and keith met up again in new york city for the new york fleadh and a date in a groovy club on the lower east side june 15 and 16

the twelve bar concert in london on june 27 was an andy/davy concert, with john and keith arriving to drive to glastonbury festival on june 28 for the final concert of the season

the two concerts in dublin and cork in august were with andy, cathy, original spritual supermarket member robert malone and wayne sheehy (robert and wayne are at present the hothouse flowers' rhythm section) plus as a special guest kieran kennedy from the black velvet band on electric guitar

september was really busy with concerts in america, italy and ireland. the line-up for america was andy, rad, keith and john and for italy andy, davy, rad, robert and wayne. hey, we said it was a liquid lineup!

the september irish tour with david bridie from australian band my friend the chocolate cake was a groovy three-piece affair. andy and david met last year in melbourne and david became part of the australian spiritual supermarket. on this irish tour andy and david were joined by davy crichton on violin, except (you thought there would be no exceptions!!) in dublin where wayne, robert, kieran and cathy joined them and belfast where cathy was the third person...

the october irish date in tramore was solo, followed by a band concert in belfast's empire, deep in the 'quartier latin' of andy's home city. the day after a poetry reading in derry there was another solo date in ramelton, donegal. at andy's appearance during cooking vinyl week at the 12 bar club in london's denmark street he was joined by davy crichton on violin.

the main tour news for andy at the end of last year was a mary black support tour of the united states in november/december. this went well and he's been promising to write us a tour diary ever since...
